The List
Scroll to bottom for guidelines & grounding
- Found Item Sculpture: show us what you can
do with 12 inches (minimum height)! No maximum height, whatever you find. No purchase (except
fastening materials: glue sticks, tape, nails, etc–they’re allowed).
- Design Your Mascot: Everyone feels good when
they’re cheered for. Design your own personal mascot & dress up as it!
- Human Carnival Game: think Whack-A-Mole, the Claw, Skee-Ball…except with people. Recreate the
carnival experience! Lights, sound, someone trying to take your money on games of ‘skill’!
This one should be a video, and a demo of the game in play.
- Review that Restaurant: Enjoy one of
our many immigrant-owned restaurants; and write a Google or Yelp review. Share the link with us;
and extra points for a dramatic recitation in a video.
- Express Yourself: with joy and
appreciation for public servants. Whether it’s a giant card to transit drivers, or a gift of
gratitude to a teacher, share the love. Pic of delivery or dropoff and receipt, or a vid.
- Minnesota is home to 10,000 lakes, and
hundreds of streams, rivers, fountains, kiddy pools, splash pads. Compose & perform a water
ballet! 30 seconds, video.
- Freaky Furrrriday: You’ve
switched bodies with your pet. Show us what that looks like. Picture or video
acceptable.
- Rebel Loon: created
by Bernardo Anderson as a symbol of resistance and community, we
want to see your own artistic interpretation! Macaroni art, painting, Lego, however you show
solidarity with your neighbors.
- Everyone is annoyed by someone or something. People who don’t know how to zipper merge, people who clip their nails on public
transit, you get the point. Compose & perform a song about why they are wrong & you are
right. 1-3 minute video.
- You know the label: the tiny print, 18
uses, dilute it first! Show us all 18 uses of Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap. You pick the
scent. No nudity, please. Be creative! (video: 1-3 minutes, or a photo
montage!).
- Sing us the song….that was #1 on the
day of your birth in your country of birth. Feel free to pick the chart. (All or most of the song,
1-3 minutes, video)
- Recreate your parent’s (or a
sibling’s or friend’s) wedding photo. But we want to see your re-use skills: raid that
recycling bin, or trash, or junk drawer! Make sure to capture the joy and fun of the photo
too!
- Recreate your favorite beer
label…using bar snacks. Even better if you do it in your favorite bar and tag them in the
picture. Take a pic (and then feel free to enjoy the snacks!)
- Add it up, Add it Up! If every
MetroTransit route number is a point (the 2 is 2 points, for example), how many points can you gather in
a week? Take a selfie by or on each bus you ride or a pic of you by it,, but make sure we can see
the bus number in the pic. (Letter routes are worth the numerical of the letter. A is 1
point, D is 4 points, etc).
Ground Rules & Guidelines:
- Be creative!
- Do items by yourself, with a team, with friends, with whoever you
can wrangle into this!
- Don’t be buying all the supplies; you probably have stuff
laying around. Ask around; other players, friends, fam, strangers, thrift, etc.
- (Ax-Man is a great resource, too).
- DSST isn’t about winning; it’s about fun!
- Don’t break the law, please.
- Finally:
Be good. Don’t be a dick. If you’re making a video, ask
people if they consent to be in it. And if you want to share it on the socials, ask them if
they’re cool with that. If they aren’t, then don’t.
And then:
What to do when you’ve finished or accomplished an item: share in the
Signal group, or share on socials, and then next Sunday, we’ll have a gathering to celebrate
ourselves! You might want to create a shared folder of your items; easier to share.
